Student Expectations

Lessons:

  • Students should arrive to lessons with clean hands and trimmed fingernails.
  • Gum is NOT permitted.
  • Students may be dropped off, but should be picked up on time, unless arrangements have already been made.
  • Students are expected to bring all music/materials to the lesson and should be prepared to play the previous week’s assignments.
  • The lesson may be cancelled or  shortened if a student fails to bring all assignments.
  • Please bring a standard three ring binder to store  assignment papers that will be provided.

Attendance:

  • Please be prompt to your lesson, as extra time will not be added to the lesson if you arrive late.
  • If students do not show up for lessons, tuition will not be reimbursed.
  • Lessons will not be excused for events such as birthday parties or dental appointments. Lessons during vacations other than school breaks will also not be excused. Please try to avoid all conflicts.
  • In case of illness, the lesson will be rescheduled for a make-up date. Make-up lessons will be offered once per quarter.
  • Students are also permitted to trade lesson times with another student, if they alert the teacher.
  • If I personally cancel your lesson, you will be guaranteed a make-up lesson, or a credit to your account.
  • Students may be dismissed for the following reasons:
                 Repeated failure to attend lessons
Repeated failure to prepare for lessons
                 Behavior or attitude problems
Failure to pay tuition or other expenses

  • At any time, students wishing to withdraw from lessons may do so; however, the student/parent must give two weeks notice and finish the month of lessons. Tuition will not be reimbursed if the student does not wish to complete the remainder of lessons.
  • Lessons will not automatically be cancelled due to a snow day.  Many times the roads have been cleared by the afternoon to allow safe travel. You will receive an e-mail and/or phone call if lessons have been cancelled.

Performance Opportunities:

  • Studio Recitals provide the opportunity for students to share the music they have been mastering during the semester.
  • Recitals are hosted twice a year in November and May.
  • All students are required to participate.
  • Friends and family are encouraged to attend and show support!
